SMA International Concerto
Competition 2023 

The SMA (Surrey Music Academy)  International Concerto Competition is a platform providing talented young soloists with an opportunity to perform with a live orchestra in Surrey 

About SMAICC

SMA International Concerto Competition (SMAICC) provides an unforgettable experience performing as a soloist with a professional orchestra. It will take place on the 18th-22nd December 2023, and is for aspiring young musicians with exceptional musical abilities up to the age of 18. The Competition is open to young players of piano and string instruments. 

This year the competition has some exciting features: There will be a gold prize, two silver awards and three bronze awards. The winners will receive a cash prize up to £1500 and a trophy. All finalists will have the opportunity to perform a concerto with the Southern Pro Musica Orchestra. 

Applications must be submitted by the 31st October 2023. There is an entry fee of £250. Players need to send in a completed application form, an 8-minute video that demonstrates their ability to perform a concerto and a summary of their musical background. 

On the basis of the videos submitted, 16 finalists will be invited to join a five-day Masterclass course (see prices below) before the final competition on the 22nd December. The finalists will be performing in front of a panel of adjudicators. The Competition Final is open to the public who are welcome to come and enjoy the performances of the young musicians and hear the adjudicators’ comments and decisions. Once you enter the finals you will have a 5-day Masterclass course, please choose from the following options
